Opportunities From: Wentzville Parks and Recreation- Crossroads Volunteer Network

Volunteer: Learn-to-Skate Hockey Support

Our volunteers play a vital role in the success of our Learn to Skate (LTS) classes. By working directly on the ice, you provide the extra layer of attention and safety needed to help our youngest skaters thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Support: Assist the lead instructor with various tasks and drills to keep the class moving smoothly.

Encouragement & Care: Work with our skaters, providing a calming presence for children who might be nervous or upset.

Safety & Assistance: Help pick up little ones after a tumble and ensure everyone stays safe, upright, and engaged.

Volunteer Requirements

To ensure a high-quality experience for our students, volunteers must meet the following criteria:

Skating Proficiency: You must be able to skate independently and confidently. This role requires stability on the ice while assisting others.

Program Familiarity: Prospective volunteers should have a solid understanding of skating programs and basic terminology to effectively assist the lead instructor.

Child-Friendly Attitude: Patience is key! You should be comfortable interacting with young children and managing emotions (like nerves or tears) with kindness.

Reliability: We depend on our volunteers to provide a consistent learning environment for our skaters.
